Olhão invites medaled Olympic athletes to spend the weekend in the county

This is "a way for all the people of Olho to recognize and thank the performance of these champions"

The municipality of Olhão invited all Portuguese athletes with medals in the Tokyo Olympic Games to spend a weekend, between 18 and 19 September, in the city of Olhão.

"Athletes will have the opportunity to discover the natural, gastronomic and architectural wonders of the county and to rest after their arduous performance in the Olympics", announced the municipality in a note sent to the newsrooms.

The invitation was sent this morning, July 30, to the president of the Olympic Committee of Portugal, José Manuel Constantino, “a form of thanks to these Portuguese athletes for their effort and dedication, which culminated in a brilliant performance in Tokyo and elevated even more the name of Portugal».

Therefore, on the 18th and 19th of September, Portuguese athletes with medals in the Olympic Games will have the opportunity to recover their energies, but also to «take a boat ride on the Ria Formosa, discover the city's historic center and its unique architecture in the world, walk the Caminho das Lendas and visit Quinta de Marim (headquarters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park)»

"As it could not be otherwise", the athletes will also "taste the delicacies of the gastronomy of Olhão, namely its seafood and shellfish", adds the municipality.

The municipality of Olhão concludes saying that this is "a way for all Olhão residents to recognize and thank the performance of these champions."
