Even without a Medieval Fair, Silves still travels to the Middle Ages

Streets will be decorated with the props used in previous editions of the Medieval Fair

Silves does not organize the Medieval Fair again this year, due to pandemic issues, but is preparing to go back to the Middle Ages, from 30th July to 22nd August, and contemplate its visitors with memories and period decorations through the streets of City.

Those who visit Silves during this initiative may find “a city decked out, stroll through its streets decorated with the ornaments usually used in editions of the Medieval Fair and register the moment in one of the different scenarios with history”, says the municipality.

On these days, the city will transform itself with the colors and decorations of the period of the Medieval Fair, an event that, for almost two decades, «animated the city, made known and revived its history, so intrinsically linked to the Arab presence in the city. -Gharb al-Andalus» and which had to be canceled in the last two years.

In addition to the decoration of the city, “other surprises are also being prepared, which will be announced in due course”.

In the patio al-Andaluz, located in front of the Paços do Concelho building, the municipality will also present a portico, located on Rua 5 de Outubro, "signaling the entrance into a magical environment", and works of art inspired by the Koran that decorate the usual mosque, already erected next to the city turret.

The gastronomy will also be added to the event, where “true and diverse medieval flavors” can be enjoyed by the city's restaurants.
