A French sailboat, with only one member of that nationality on board, ran aground this morning, between 9:30 am and 10:00 am, at Praia da Batata, in Lagos. There are no injuries, no damages on the yacht.
The commander of the Port of Lagos told the Sul Informação that “as the sailboat is now dry” on the beach sand, the authorities are only “waiting for the tide to rise, so as to allow the vessel to run aground”.
As for the causes of the incident, Lieutenant-Captain Pedro da Palma admitted that it was a "navigator's distraction" when he was preparing to enter the bar, right next door, to access the Marina de Lagos.
