Two recreational craft crew rescued off the island of Armona

The man and woman who were on board were picked up from the sea by the lifeguard of Olhão

The two crew, a man and a woman around 70 years old, from a Portuguese-flagged pleasure craft that sank about a mile (approximately 1800 meters) off the coast of Armona Island, were rescued by the Maritime Police and Estação Salva -Lives of Olhão.

The alert was received at 13:50 pm, by the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Algarve, informing that a recreational vessel was sinking, and a vessel belonging to the local Command of the Maritime Police of Olhão was immediately sent to the site. and a vessel from the Lifesaving Station in the same city.

After locating the wrecked vessel, the elements of the Maritime Police found that the two crew members were already in the water trying to reach the coast. of Olhão. As they were physically well, it was not necessary to provide medical assistance.

The pleasure boat ended up drifting to land, due to the weather conditions that were felt in the place, having run aground in an area of ​​shallows and strong surf, on the island of Armona.

The local command of the Maritime Police of Olhão took care of the occurrence and an inquiry will be opened to investigate the causes of the wreck, having notified the vessel's owner to present a plan to remove the vessel from the site.
