Dinosaurs invade Albufeira to «dazzle kids and adults»

The exhibition will be open from the 16th of July to the 22nd of August at Parque do Ribeiro

Dino Parque da Lourinha

From this Friday, 16th July, Parque do Ribeiro, at the entrance to Albufeira, will be transformed into «the natural habitat of 14 “terrible” dinosaurs». The exhibition “Vale dos Dinossauros”, with free entry, will be open until the 22nd of August, offering its visitors “a unique opportunity to learn, in a fun and safe way, all about the life and disappearance of dinosaurs”.

This is a temporary exhibition, with full scale models (between 1,80 m and 13 meters), all scientifically certified, which «promise to dazzle children and adults about these fantastic animals that inhabited the earth for over 200 million years », reveals the Municipality of Albufeira.

At night, the models on display will be illuminated, transforming the “Valley of the Dinosaurs” into an exhibition full of “new shades and colors, making it even more impressive”.

In this exhibition, visitors can learn about the life and extinction of dinosaur species such as T-Rex Junior, Iguanodon, Lourinhanosaurus, Pterodactylus, Velociraptor, Plateosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Scelidosaurus, Oviraptor, Deinonychus, Trodon, Allosaurus, Centrosaurus and Tyranossaurus Tax

The specimens come from the Dino Parque da Lourinhã, the largest open-air museum in Europe dedicated to the theme of dinosaurs and paleontology.

The last dinosaurs disappeared from the planet about 66 million years ago, and these animals inhabited the Earth during the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous geological periods.

However, not all dinosaur species lived at the same time, nor did they become extinct at the same time. They lived all over the world and their fossils have been found on all five continents.

Some of these dinosaurs only lived in the territory we know today as Portugal, so they are unique in the world. There were dinosaurs of all sizes and some were smaller than a chicken, while others reached up to 45 meters in length.
