The University of Algarve (UAlg) receives this Friday, June 18, at 10:00 am, the closing session of the MI.MOMO educational project.FARO – Minecraft and Modernist Architecture in Faro in the Grand Auditorium on the Gambelas campus.
The session will have a cultural moment, promoted by the National Plan for the Arts (PNA).
THE MI.MOMO Faro is a project that emerged within the scope of the application process for Faro the European Capital of Culture 2027, in line with the Municipality's Cultural Strategy 2030 and the spirit of the Convention of Faro on cultural heritage for society.
This project "aims to enhance the growing appreciation of cultural heritage through education, through new learning dynamics and based on digital educational technologies ("game based learning")", says the City Council of Faro.
At the end of its 1st edition, this pilot project is aimed at students from the 3rd cycle of education, which «had a rapid adhesion by all groups in the municipality, with six classes, more than 120 students and 16 teachers from different disciplines who received specific training accredited in Minecraft applied to Education and Heritage», adds the municipality.
Through MI.MOMO Faro, these students explored several of the approximately 500 buildings linked to the Modernist Movement in the city of Faro and possible narratives around them, using the Minecraft Education platform, with the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, the National Art Plan, Microsoft, European Education and the Ria Formosa Training Centre.
