Silves invests in a vehicle for the collection of biodegradable urban waste

Vehicle will be a central element of a pilot project Silves will launch, involving restoration

The Municipality of Silves purchased a vehicle for the selective collection of biodegradable urban waste (biowaste), as part of a pilot project that the municipality is going to develop in July with catering establishments, starting with those in the city of Silves and Armação of Pear.

This heavy vehicle cost around 190 euros and is the fourth acquired by the municipality in the last seven years, for waste collection.

«The investment is part of the strategic objective of sending less waste to landfills and investing more in separation and recycling, also contributing to the mitigation of climate change», according to the Câmara de Silves.

On the other hand, the municipality “embodies the gradual renewal of the heavy vehicle fleet in this sector, improving the provision of public service and ensuring a more rational management of equipment.
