InvestAlgarve Network debated Covid-19 and the difficulties of Algarve entrepreneurs

There have already been 55 entrepreneurs asking for support from the Entrepreneur's Office of the Algarve Tourism Region

Covid-19 and the difficulties faced by entrepreneurs in the Algarve were the central themes of an online meeting of the partners of the InvestAlgarve network, at the end of last week.

This was a moment of joint reflection, which brought together 40 participants, where the future of the sector was discussed, but it also served to know that there have already been 55 entrepreneurs resorting to the Entrepreneur's Office of the Algarve Tourism Region, since the beginning of the pandemic.

The occasion also served to present the Action Plan “Reactivate tourism, Build the future”, a task that fell to Carlos Abade, from Turismo de Portugal.

This document is a «guiding guide for the re-launch of tourism after Covid-19», aimed at the public and private sector, which «intends to stimulate the economy and tourism activity» and has as one of the main goals to reach 27 billion euros in tourist revenue in 2027.

Also in this area, the Regional Ecotourism Program was presented, which already has a working group constituted by Turismo do Algarve, AMAL, the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission, the Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation and the Association Almargem.

"The program should, among other things, identify existing equipment, infrastructure and facilities that are suitable for ecotourism, as well as propose eco-tours through the natural, cultural and historical heritage of the region for walks or trails and eco-lanes for the practice of sports" , according to AMAL.

There was also time to talk about the “1st Competition for innovative business projects – Inova Algarve 2.0”, which aims to “reward the best and most innovative business projects developed by SMEs in the Algarve region”.

According to Marco Vieira, from the Algarve Region Business Association, the competition is already open and applications can be made until 3 September. Information about this initiative can be consulted online.

The InvestAlgarve network – Support Network for Economic Development – is a regional partnership, formalized in 2015 and led by AMAL. It is made up of around 40 public and private entities “that work together to facilitate and stimulate entrepreneurial initiative”.
