Are you a Sushi Lover? Here's everything you need to know

Today we are going to travel to Japan, through the flavors, and get to know some of the Algarve's sushi restaurants

Sushi has its origins in Japan and, according to history, somewhere in the XNUMXth century BC in Southeast Asia, rice served to preserve salty fish through its fermentation. Later, it was discarded and only the fish was consumed. So, some time later, sushi, as it is known today.

Sushi took a while to reach Portugal, but quickly went viral. Japanese cuisine, which is known for taking mainly from the sea the products for its preparation, such as seaweed, fish and seafood, is collecting more and more fans.

And today, in the Algarve, there is almost no place where there is no sushi restaurant. Put those you don't know on your list!

O Daiya Cocktail & Sushi, in Tavira, known for its beautiful terrace, promises an unforgettable experience for those who dine there.

The good atmosphere, the good music and the cocktails are some of the key elements that characterize this restaurant. Daiya is known for its fresh dishes and beverage selection.

If you have allergies or a restricted diet, Daiya's kitchen “guarantees a vegan and vegetarian preparation of the dishes, always keeping a huge variety of aromas. Many lactose-free dishes allow you to have a healthy diet while enjoying your meals».

Parking at this restaurant is also an asset, you don't have to worry about that.

It's in Well Praia Verde who can have one of the most amazing experiences. You can have dinner on a pergola, on the sand of Praia Verde, with the sea in the background.

Is there anything better than having your favorite food, standing barefoot on the beach, with the sound of the sea? The sushi is very well presented, with dry ice, which makes that cinematic smoke that we all love.

At the Well, you can spend the day on the beach in a pergola-style bed and, at the end of the day, your beach bed is transformed into a dining table and equipped to enjoy your sushi combo in the best of scenarios.

With a renovated and very welcoming decor, its walls feature images of fishermen and boats, while the chairs and furniture are in warm tones, all referring to the sea and the craft of fishing. The hosts have as their motto «a new space in Olhão that will bring the best flavors of the sea to you. It is a case of saying… Ammar i mar, there is going and coming back».

Em Faro: pearl sushi mark for the difference. If you are looking for a gastronomic experience outside of the conventional sushi, I invite you to visit this restaurant.

After several trips to absorb Japanese culture, they came to the conclusion that the best dishes are the simplest. The transformation of products makes the food lose its essence, therefore, the simpler, the more flavor a dish can have.

It was with the kitchen Nikkei, a Japanese cuisine outside of Japan, who realized that they can achieve the same flavors and essence in the dishes, using seasonal and regional products.

Since 2019, they have focused on presenting dishes with Japanese, Peruvian and Algarve origins. One best sellers from Pearl is the Niguiri Ria Formosa (horse mackerel with oil and garlic paste).

Sushi Pearl is only open for dinner, Tuesday through Sunday. Make your reservation via +351 915777879.

It is also in Faro who can find the oldest sushi in town. O sushi ya was the first sushi restaurant to open in Faro and are over 30 years old.

In Vilamoura, the Tuttapanna's longhouse is renovated and with a much larger space than the previous one.

Decorated in a vibe super tropical, where palm trees, toucans, wicker notes, etc., make a difference, we are surprised by the type of cuisine that this restaurant offers. With three types of cuisine, Italian, Japanese and Western, Tuttapanna is known for its quality sushi. However, Italian dishes are also very popular.

Are you going to be a curiosity? Chef Anderson Sousa is of Indian descent and the word “Maloca” means cabin – a symbol of union and conviviality. In the past, Amazonian indigenous people used the maloca to practice their rituals, celebrate important dates and moments.

The space is very inviting, I'm sure you won't regret it!

Sky Valley only opens in high season (May to October) and whenever it reopens, it comes with new things. The decor is super thought out to detail and looks very summery with the swimming pool in the center of the restaurant. The beautiful view of Vilamoura Marina is also inviting to drink a cocktail and enjoy the sunset, to later enjoy the unique pieces of sushi.

«The Sky Valley Vilamoura is also a leisure space, with a wide range of cocktails, and where music and dancing will not be lacking, animating any early evening this summer».

In this restaurant you can have the experience Don Perignon Experience – Omakase like nowhere else, composed of four moments and all of them accompanied by a different Don Pérignon, depending on what the piece/dish asks for.

Chef Olivier da Costa has his first space Yakuza in the Algarve, inserted in the Pine Cliffs Resort. Access can be done from outside the resort and is only open for dinner during the summer.

In the restaurant, «with three distinct spaces – one interior, more intimate, and two outdoors – modern and minimalist decor prevails in gray, black and white tones. The space is sober and elegant, with a refined atmosphere, but relaxed and informal».

This restaurant offers customers exclusive creations that result from the fusion of East and West. The menu was inspired by the Japanese arts, «with emphasis on the real sushi with the fusion of Mediterranean flavors and aromas».
