Chamber grants annual support of 200 thousand euros to the Voluntary Firefighters of Silves and Messines

Agreements signed at the Municipality's Salão Nobre

On the afternoon of Thursday, June 24, the Municipality of Silves signed an agreement that provides for the annual allocation of 200 euros to the Humanitarian Associations of the Voluntary Firefighters of Silves and São Bartolomeu de Messines.

These three subsidies to each of the corporations are intended “to support the functioning of the Permanent Intervention Team (under the terms of the tripartite protocol signed with the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority) and to support the functioning of the equipment, namely the Barracks of São Bartolomeu de Messines and Silves and the São Marcos da Serra and Alcantarilha Detachments (through the payment of electricity and water supply costs)», explains the City Council.

«This is another of the measures to support these important humanitarian associations, which joins the measures for attributing benefits to volunteer firefighters, whose municipal regulation has been in force since April this year and which aims not only to encourage and dignify volunteer work in fire brigades in the municipality of Silves, as well as improving the living conditions of volunteer fire fighters residing in the municipal territory», he concludes.
