João Rodrigues did not hide his joy for having won, this Sunday, the Volta ao Algarve by bicycle, arriving at Alto do Malhão.
At the end of the shot that ended in second place and which made him the first Algarvian to win the Volta ao Algarve, the tavirense said he was feeling “immense joy. It was a great victory, it was something magnificent what we just did».
“This victory was a lot of work and now it's part of us enjoying this effort. It's a collective victory, I just managed to shoot in the best possible way and I couldn't give my team a better gift», he added.
João Rodrigues also did not hide his particular happiness for having won in the Algarve.
«Winning at home is always magnificent, I have my family and friends here. It wasn't five perfect stages, but we managed to get the best shot on the most important day. The team did very well, Amaro did a spectacular job and that is why we are here to celebrate. We are to be congratulated. We were not interested in discussing any position other than first place, so we would attack».
