Vila do Bispo is very close to surpassing 240 cases of Covid-19 per 21 inhabitants and is now the Algarve municipality with the highest incidence rate, according to the update by municipalities released this Friday, May XNUMX, by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

That this municipality in the Barlavento Algarvio had an incidence rate of more than 120 thousand cases was known since yesterday, as it was announced by Mariana Vieira da Silva, the Minister of State and Presidency, that Vila do Bispo, Lagoa and Tavira joined Albufeira in the list of municipalities under warning and at risk of regressing into deconfinement.

Today, in the weekly update made by the DGS, with data between the 6th and 19th of May, the numbers of Vila do Bispo, which last week had only 39 cases per 100 and now has 233, are the ones that stand out the most. .

In the last week, the number of active cases in this municipality increased by 10. This figure may seem low, but in a sparsely populated municipality like Vila do Bispo, it is enough to raise the incidence.

Lagoa has 180 cases per 100 inhabitants in 14 days, Albufeira has 152 and Tavira registers 139.

In the case of Albufeira, this is the second consecutive week under warning, largely due to an outbreak with around five dozen cases that was detected two weeks ago on a farm. If the situation doesn't improve, next week this county will regress in the lack of confinement.

As in the municipality of Albufeirense, the increase in cases in Tavira is also related to an outbreak on a farm.

All other Algarve municipalities have rates below 120 cases per 100 inhabitants. Two of them, Alcoutim and Monchique, continue to have zero incidence of Covid-19.

Castro Marim, who a week ago was also on this list, now has a rate of 48.

Olhão (14) and São Brás de Alportel (19) are also in the level between 0 and 19 cases.

In the range of 20 to 59,9 cases, in addition to Castro Marim, are Aljezur (36), Lagos (43), Portimão (56), Silves (58) and Vila Real de Santo António (27).

With values between 60 and 119,9 cases, they are Faro (90) and Loulé (68), Faro (75) and Tavira (77).
