“Há Verão” in Albufeira for children from the 1st cycle of Basic Education

Last year, the project had the participation of 172 children

The “Há Verão” project, aimed at children in the 1st cycle of Basic Education, will return to Albufeira, with the aim of responding to guardians who have to work during the summer season.

The registration period for the initiative, which promotes playful occupation of children in the months of July and August, will run from 17 to 21 May.

In 2020, “Há Verão” replaced the “Education in Summer” program, due to the pandemic, and will provide children with sporting and educational activities, such as: water games, traditional games, cross fit kids, capoeira, cooking, cinema, or plastic expression workshops.

Outdoor activities and the psychological and emotional well-being of children will be privileged.

The project will take place in the various parishes of the municipality, namely in the ATL's of EB1 da Guia, Ferreiras, Olhos de Água and Caliços and also in the Educational Center of Cerro do Ouro, in Paderne.

This program is similar to a holiday camp, being the responsibility of the Municipality of Albufeira, with the supervision of educators, animators and assistants from the municipality.

The project also intends to promote children's development, socialization and peer relationships.

«This dual mission of the program allowed families, in the month of most intense work, to have a place to leave their children in safety; on the other hand, it favored the use of time in a useful and healthy way, enriching the younger ones with new experiences through activities guided by professionals», says José Carlos Martins Rolo, president of the Albufeira City Council.

The mayor also recalls that "in 2020, even in conditions of great rigor in terms of health standards, the children had an almost normal summer and grew up, playing at the same time, so we will continue to invest in these programs".
