GNR apprehends 101 buckets in Vila Real de Santo António

Ten kilos of octopus, still alive, were returned to the sea

The GNR Coastal Control Unit (UCC) seized, this Monday, 3 May, 101 buckets in Vila Real de Santo António.

According to the GNR, "during an action to inspect vessels with the aim of identifying, preventing and interrupting illegal fishing activities, the Guard soldiers detected a buoy that was not properly identified."

The fishing gear, which was seized, consisted of "101 shelter traps [buckets], attached to 1224 meters of cable, with an estimated value of 303 euros".

Inside the buckets were ten kilos of octopus, still alive, which was returned to its habitat.
