Faro puts elderly “Talking to nurses”

First session takes place on Tuesday

Faro wants to put the senior population of the county “Talking to nurses”. This is the name of the cycle of information sessions, which will be held during the month of June, at the Municipal Library of Faro.

“Nurses are professionals with in-depth knowledge of the population's health needs and with highly qualified and differentiated training. In this sense, students from the Nursing Licentiate Course at the University of Algarve who are taking part in the
Clinical Teaching I, aimed at caring for the elderly, organized, together with the teaching team, five sessions aimed at this age group», explains the Chamber of Faro.

The first session, taking place this Tuesday, June 1st, is entitled “It's so hot, what do I do?”.

The next day, the theme will be “I forget everything… what can I do to improve?” and, on June 15th, the session is entitled “Intergenerational Meeting”.

On the 21st of June, there is talk about “Accidents at home… what to do?”, and the cycle ends, on the 1st of July, with “Avoiding scammers…”.

All sessions are scheduled for 15:00.

The activities, which are supervised and monitored by the course professors, have free entry, subject to the maximum room capacity, which will be reduced due to the pandemic.

This partnership between the Nursing Degree at the University of Algarve and the Municipal Library of Faro arises within the scope of the “Histórias Told, Sorrisos Partilhados” project, which promotes active aging, the occupation of free time and the well-being of the elderly.
