António Morgado wins with authority the Volta ao Concelho de Loulé Júnior

Bairrada cyclist had an excellent performance in the second and last stage

Cyclist António Morgado (Bairrada) won, this Sunday, the XXVI Tour of the Municipality of Loulé Júnior, after imposing himself alone in the second and final stage of the competition.

Shattered on Saturday by the Spaniard Juan Pedro Lozano (Valverde Team-Tierra Fecundis), who started in yellow on the last day, António Morgado was the spearhead of the Bahian strategy to win the first stage race on the national junior calendar.

In a stretch of 116,1 kilometers, starting and ending in Loulé, the six uphill climbs for the mountain prize were fertile ground to dynamit the peloton.

António Morgado made an impressive show of strength and crossed the line with 3h14m21s, 2m47s less than teammate Gonçalo Tavares and 3m54s less than Victor Paula (Seissa/KTM Bikeseven/Matias & Araújo/Frulact), second and third, respectively .

The first three in the final overall were the same, António Morgado finishing with a 2m50s advantage over Gonçalo Tavares and a 3m54s better than Victor Paula.

António Morgado, still a first-year junior, also won the youth classification and was first on points. Diogo Sousinha (Joaquim Agostinho Academy/CYR/UDO) was the best climber. By teams, Bairrada prevailed.
