Portimão, Lagos and Armação de Pêra (Silves) will once again host the “Entrelaçados” festival, taking place between May 1st and August 28th, with proposals for contemporary dance, performances, workshops and a video-dance exhibition.

The opening of the festival will take place this Saturday, May 1st, at 11:30 am, from Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, in Portimão, with the inauguration of the photography exhibition “Algarve, Dança e Arte”, followed by a presentation of contemporary dance , being broadcast in the social networks of the Dascenema Cultural Association.

Within the scope of contemporary dance performances, the highlight goes to the performance “Inverno”, which the Almada Dance Company will present, on July 17, at the Municipal Theater of Portimão (TEMPO), and to “Me, Viola and I ”, by Nastasja Stefanic, show that can be seen on the 13th of July, in the Auditorium of the Museum of Portimão.

On the 18th of the same month, these performances will be available online to be watched for four hours.

In a press release, the Câmara de Portimão also highlights the video-dance exhibition that takes place on the 14th of July, at the Museum of this city.

In contemporary dance, there will be shows by Miguel Ramalho (May 22 in Lagos), Lígia Soares (August 26 in Lagos and August 27 in Jardim 1º de Dezembro in Portimão) and Companhia Dancenema (July 18 in Pear Frame).

As in previous years, the festival will have workshops open to the general public, taught by the choreographers of the pieces presented, whose main objective is «the creation of an audience for the shows, familiarizing them with the author's line of work and choreographic method /choreographer», says the municipality of Portimão.

In Portimão, there will be three workshops: “Movement”, by Tiago Martins, to be held on May 30 at the Pavilhão Desportivo da Boavista, “3C (Creation, Composition and Clichés)”, which choreographer Maurícia Barreira Neves will guide, from 15th to 17th of July, at the Teatro Municipal Rehearsal Room, and “O sono do spectator”, by Lígia Soares, on 28th of August at Casa das Artes.

The program also includes an advanced training component for semi-professional and professional dancers, with two courses, totaling 25 hours each, which will take place at the Escola de Dança de Lagos, from the 17th to the 21st of May and from the 25th to the 28th of May , taught by Roberto Olivan and Hélder Seabra, respectively.

On August 24, at 20 pm, the “Café-Performance” will take place at the Pote Cheio restaurant, in Portimão, “which combines the pleasure of gastronomy with the pleasure of seeing a live music and dance show”, stresses the municipality.

There will also be specific programming for the school public in Portimo, made available online, which includes the show “A Loja dos Bonecos”, recorded at Teatro de Portimão.
