“Saberes em Rede” is the name of the support program for the arts, artists and artisans, created by the municipality of Monchique, part of the project “Algarve – Programação em Rede”, which will culminate in a show/exhibition on May 28th, with the objective of supporting artistic creation and production in different areas.
As part of the fight against the economic effects of Covid-19, the municipality of Monchique intends to take advantage of the financial support, through this program, in order to promote "local artistic creation and stimulate creativity", boosting the start of activities in this post- confinement, supporting as many artists as possible from the county and from the entire local artistic community.
«The entire essence of the inter-municipal project will therefore be mirrored in this Monchique project, in a network creation. They will be webs of knowledge, networks of knowledge and connections of artistic creations that will result in an exhibition/exhibition», says the municipality.
This project will have as its starting point the “Artistic and Literary Award”, held last year, through which the municipality “intends to stimulate network creation”, with the winning tale, “O Fantasma Hortelão”, written by Paulo Rosa, the basis for artistic creation.
The program also aims to promote economic and social support and stimulate the various artistic areas that are part of the local territory.
The entire local arts community can apply for the program.
The areas in competition are the most varied: crafts, music, prose and poetry, photography, painting and sculpture.
Each participant can only apply for one area, with a limit of 6 participants per category, and proposals must be delivered by 14:00 on the 27th of April, at Paços do Concelho. Entries can also be sent by post, and must be sent by April 23rd.
One or more works from each category will be chosen, whose author will be invited to develop the proposed idea.
With a view to supporting artistic creation, the municipality will guarantee payment for the service for the presentation of a model in the amount of 50 euros, as a way of encouraging participation and creation, this amount upon presentation of a receipt or invoice.
The works chosen for the second phase (the creation phase) will have to elaborate their work and execute their proposal.
In a third phase, three works/projects will be selected, which will represent Monchique in the Exhibition “Saberes em Rede”, which will be promoted in Monchique, Alcoutim and Castro Marim.
All participants must have been open for at least 1 year, and be registered in the finances in the respective activity code (CAE), and have an artisan card (in the case of the respective category) and all valid legal and financial issues.

Along with the registration form, there must also be the title/name of the work and respective descriptive memory, budget, materials and techniques adopted (in the case of artistic works) and dimension.
Literary works must, in turn, respect the following characteristics: a) Poetry: 1 set of 4 poems, with a space and a half between lines, in “Verdana”, size 12. b) Prose (story): minimum of 4 pages and a maximum of 10 pages, with space and a half between lines, in “Verdana”, size 12.
