The Association of Grupo Coral de Lagos will resume its in-person program with a concert on May 9th, starting at 18:30 pm, at the Ensemble Vocal Aura, at Igrejas das Freiras.
The Ensemble Vocal Aura – EVA – is an ensemble composed only of female voices.
«The core of the group is composed of eight elements and was designed to fill a gap that seems to exist, with regard to the interpretation of repertoire for female choirs», says the Association of Grupo Coral de Lagos.
«The creation of the ensemble was conceived and conceived in early 2020. However, given the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting state of emergency, the physical meeting of its elements was only possible in September, and the project was initially developed through online presentation, in virtual choir format», he adds.
The artistic director of the EVA is lacobrigense Inês Tavares Lopes. She has already worked with all the singers as a conductor, having chosen the elements of the group for their characteristics in accordance with the orientation and concept of the project.
Additionally, the members of the group sing together in other ensembles such as Coro Gulbenkian, Officium Ensemble, Voces Caelestes, Ensemble MPMP, Coro Ricercare and Nova Era Vocal Ensemble.
“Saecula per infinity saeculorum”, title of the program to interpret, is a program with diverse environments. With an immense variety, from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXst century, traveling through the writing of European composers, including three pieces by Portuguese composers (Carlos Gracia, Eurico Carrapatoso and Alfredo Teixeira).
Two of the most emblematic pieces of the program are “Ave Generosa”, by Hildegarda de Bingen, and “Ikon of St Hilda”, by John Tavener.
