There's a lot of culture to derail in April in the Algarve

With the deconfinement plan in place and complying with all health recommendations

The Algarve's municipalities, with the decontamination plan in place and complying with all health recommendations, are once again planning musical concerts, art exhibitions and other cultural events with the public.

So, this Monday, April 19, at 19 pm, the guest of honor of the 91st anniversary of Cineteatro Louletano, in Loulé, is Teresa Salgueiro, a unique artistic figure in our country and an emblematic image of Portugal in the world, first with the Madredeus project and then solo.

This special occasion also anticipates the celebration of the 25th of April 1974, with the artist having prepared, at the invitation of the local authority, a show whose alignment pays tribute to authors who, with their talent, the beauty and strength of their music, from his poetry and his capacity for intervention decisively marked the birth of democracy in Portugal.

A few days later, on April 22, at 19:30 pm, the singer Viviane takes the stage at Teatro das FigurasOn Faro, to premiere some of the songs from his new, unreleased original album.

Also, the greatest successes of a solo career without borders will not be forgotten, where Fado, intertwined with other musical genres, is revised in the light of a refined, elegant and sophisticated pop sensibility which he calls “Mediterranean Fado”. His repertoire includes songs with his own lyrics as well as poems by renowned Portuguese authors.

However, the Municipal Museum of Tavira, at Palácio da Galeria, reopened to the public with the project Contra-parede, curated by Hugo Dinis, presents in dialogue works by artists Ana Vidigal, Nuno Nunes-Ferreira and Pedro Gomes, in a traveling exhibition.

Starting from a broad discussion around the wall — namely, prehistoric caves, facades of buildings from ancient civilizations, Christian churches from the Middle Ages, medieval fresco, trompe-l'oeil Renaissance, Berlin Wall, political murals and graffiti — as a privileged place for intervention in public space, the artists question the architectural space in which the works are presented and promote a fruitful dialogue about the role of art in communities places where they perform.

To visit until July 10th, from Tuesday to Saturday, between 09:15 am and 16:30 pm.

The monuments attached to the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, such as the Fortress of Sagres (Vila do Bispo) or the Roman Ruins of Milreu (Faro), started the reopening of their doors, after more than two months closed to the public, and are an option to visit outdoors to get to know our heritage better.

In Milreu, for example, visitors can talk to the conservators-restorers who are working on the mosaics. The timetable is adapted to the restrictions in force.
