camera of Faro supports AAPACDM to build home and Occupational Activities Center

Center and residential home will cost more than 3 million euros

The Chamber of Faro will provide support of 1,19 million euros to the Algarve Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Diminished Children (AAPACDM), for the construction of an Occupational Activities Center (CAO) and a Residential Home.

The project's total investment is estimated at around 3,16 million euros, with the CRESC Algarve 2020 program contributing close to 1,32 million.

The Chamber of Faro highlights that AAPACDM, Private Institution of Social Solidarity, develops its activity on behalf of children, young people and adults with mental disabilities, with special educational needs or at risk of social exclusion and is a partner of the Local Council of Social Action of Faro since the year 2000.

The association, which currently has a CAO on the Pé do Cerro site, in Santa Bárbara de Nexe, with a capacity for 22 users, will have, with the construction of the new headquarters, «a more integrated and comprehensive social response, with the aim of empowering , include and make socially useful people with moderate to severe disability», highlights the municipality.

The Municipality of Faro he says that this initiative gives «continuation to institutional cooperation and the development of measures aimed at supporting individuals and families, with the main objectives of their progressive social inclusion and improvement of living conditions».
