Aljezur maintains highest incidence in Algarve, Portimão below Lagos and VRSA

Alcoutim and São Brás remain with incidence 0

Aljezur, with 465 cases per 100 inhabitants, in 14 days, remains, for the second consecutive week, as the municipality of the Algarve with the highest incidence of Covid-19, according to data released this Friday, April 30th, by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

Even so, Aljezur has a lower incidence than a week ago, when it had 501 cases per 100 inhabitants.

These were such high numbers that justified the decision taken yesterday by the Council of Ministers to carry out the county of Costa Vicentina retreat in the process of de-confinement, returning to the April 5th stage. The restaurants can only work with a terrace – and 4 people -, until 22:30 during the week and at 13:00 at the weekend.

Interestingly, according to data from the DGS, referring to the period between 14 and 27 April, Portimão, with 159 cases/100 thousand inhabitants, had a lower incidence than Lagos (171) or Vila Real de Santo António (181), both municipalities that, starting tomorrow, will accompany the rest of the country entering the fourth and final phase of deconfinement.

Portimão, on the contrary, was forced to remain, at least another week, in the previous phase to which I had retreated a fortnight ago (closed terraces, blindfold sales). Chamber president Isilda Gomes has already announced that today, at the end of the afternoon, will have an urgent meeting with Prime Minister António Costa to talk about this subject.

Even so, the prime minister, in his announcement yesterday, has already warned the councils of Lagos and Vila Real de Santo António that, if the situation continues, they may have to back off, when a new assessment is made, in a few minutes. week.

Returning to the cumulative incidence data at 14 days, by municipality, Alcoutim and São Brás de Alportel are the only municipalities in the Algarve that have zero incidence, as they have not registered any new case of Covid-19 for at least three weeks.

As for the other municipalities in the Algarve, there are four at the lowest level, with less than 20 cases per 100 inhabitants. In addition to the aforementioned Alcoutim and São Brás de Alportel (with an incidence of 0), the others are Castro Marim (16) and Monchique (20).

In the range of 20 to 59,9 cases are Silves (33), Tavira (41), Olhão (56) and Vila do Bispo (58).

With values between 60 and 119,9 cases, there are Albufeira (82), Lagoa (69) and Loulé (64).
