Albufeira celebrates International Jazz Day with “Ellingtoniana”

The concert takes place in the Municipal Auditorium and is broadcast live on social networks

Albufeira will once again celebrate World Jazz Day, once again with João Galante, in a concert entitled “Ellingtoniana”. This is a tribute to Duke Ellington that will be broadcast today, April 30, at 21:30 pm, on Facebook of the Municipality, from the Municipal Auditorium.

The concert will last 50 minutes, being a tribute to Duke Ellington, «the master of orchestral arrangement, of melodies embroidered in pure gold», says João Galante.

João Galante has been driving these celebrations «for many years, bringing to Albufeira some of the most renowned names in Jazz», highlights the Câmara de Albufeira.

This year, the artist will be accompanied by the Dutch saxophonist Martin Teutscher, whom he has known for over 20 years and with whom he has collaborated in the production and promotion of multiple shows.

Duke Ellington, whose name "Duke" came from his noble pose throughout his life, composed more than three thousand songs, directed orchestras and made various arrangements for works by various classical composers such as Bach, Schubert, Mozart and Brahmas.

João Galante conceived, for this concert, «an intimate dialogue, a journey», between «the grand piano, powerful» and «the saxophone, from the heart».

As for the name of his show, the name “Ellingtoniana” «brings to the idea the influences of classical music and mannerisms present in Duke's music. It's an "A" trip train Loading swing e blues 'In a Sentimental Mood'».
