Vila do Bispo discusses “Past, Present and Future of Disasters and Civil Protection”

The Vila do Bispo Chamber promotes, next Friday, March 26, at 21:00, a webinar on the theme “Past, Present and Future of Disasters and Civil Protection”.

It is an online lecture, through the Zoom platform, with the intervention of Artur de Jesus, historian of the municipality, and Nuno Delicado, guest lecturer at ISCIA (Higher Institute of Information and Administration Sciences).

Throughout the initiative, the themes of natural and man-made disasters will be addressed. In the first case, the earthquake of 1755 and the earthquake of 1969 will be analyzed and their effects in Vila do Bispo.

In the second case, the analysis will focus on some of the aerial bombings carried out by the Allies on German cities, between 1942 and 1945, during the 2nd World War.

Through the analysis of these events, their effects and responses to them, the present ways of dealing with disaster situations and the perspectives of future approaches to this type of occurrence will be addressed.
