Ruivinho Brazão talks about “A Mulher no Cancioneiro” in a conference cycle

Ruivinho Brazão is a scholar of orality

José Ruivinho Brazão, president of the Association for Research and Study of Orality (APEOrality), presents, on the 17th of April, a conference on “Women and the Expression of Affections in the Popular Songbook of Albufeira and Loulé”. 

This initiative will take place within the scope of the 6th cycle of conferences “Vozes na Primavera”, developed by the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, the Library and the Ataíde de Oliveira Study Center of the University of Algarve (UAlg).

“The woman in the traditional Portuguese songbook” is a work that was born from the study of orality with an impact on the work “Cancioneiro Tradicional Português”, published by APEOrality, at the end of 2019.

With about two thousand blocks, located in the municipalities of Albufeira and Loulé, this work highlights women and the expression of affection.

José Ruivinho Brazão has a degree in Classical Philology from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, Master in Portuguese Literature (specialty in Medieval Portuguese Literature), is a tireless scholar of popular oral traditional literature since the 60s, in the Algarve region.

Participation in this cycle of conferences, which will take place from March 27th to June 15th, through the Zoom platform (https://videoconf-colibri.zoom.us/j/82404896790), promise a journey through oral literature, in the first person , by specialists from the Ataíde de Oliveira Study Center.
