In a note sent to the newsrooms, the Maritime Authority said that “the picket of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão received the alert at 17:59 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC-Lisbon), having he was immediately moved to the place, where he found that the dog was on the sand with her owners, who managed to reach the place where the animal fell to provide assistance».

However, «after assessing the situation, and due to the difficult conditions of access to the site, it was decided to carry out the rescue by sea, with the Ferragudo Life-Saving Station, which rescued and transported the dog and her owners to the Praia da Marinha, where the Maritime Police and the Voluntary Firefighters of Lagoa were waiting”.

The dog appeared to have minor injuries and went home with her owners.
