Playful fisherman falls from a 10 meter high cliff on São Rafael beach in Albufeira

76-year-old man was transported to the Orthopedics Hospital of Faro

A playful 76-year-old fisherman fell this Friday, the 12th, off a cliff about ten meters high, on São Rafael beach, in Albufeira, having suffered an open fracture in his right leg.

The man fell into the water, from where he was consciously taken out by a doctor walking on the beach, the Maritime Authority said.

The elements of the Maritime Police post in Albufeira received the alert at 14:25 pm today, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon).

The Maritime Police picket and the Albufeira Volunteer Fire Department, who immediately went to the scene, found the victim already out of the water.

The recreational fisherman was immobilized and later transported by an INEM Emergency Medical Vehicle (VMER) to the orthopedics service of the hospital in Faro.
