The Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon is going to study the architectural heritage of Lagos, under a protocol to be signed between the Câmara de lacobrigense and the Lisbon Higher Education Institution.

The agreement between the two entities aims at «the development of research projects and studies on the conservation and enhancement of the municipality's architectural heritage», according to the Câmara de Lagos.

«The focus of attention of the teachers and students of the Master's Course at the aforementioned faculty will be, for now, the complexes and sites along the west wall of the city of Lagos, as well as the Dr. Júdice Cabral Park (aka “Parque das Freiras” ), as it is an Intervention Unit area under the Strategic Urban Rehabilitation Program», he revealed.

"The interest of this territory for the development of academic projects results from the fact that it allows for the prospect of interventions that combine the component of heritage rehabilitation, public space arrangements and architectural projects," added the municipality.

The Chamber appointed an interlocutor who will accompany the visits of students and teachers to Lagos. Another support “will be the provision of all the necessary documentation, such as typographic bases, plans and existing projects for the site”.

For Hugo Pereira, mayor of Lagos, «this is a very interesting opportunity to create a bridge that allows academics to look and think about the city, with all that this implies in terms of the possibility of freer and freer proposals. innovative'.
