Socialist Women of Tavira and PS promote conference on “Gender and Politics”

Ana Espírito Santo is the guest speaker

The Political Commission of Socialist Women – Equality and Rights of Tavira and the Municipality of PS de Tavira will promote, next Saturday, March 6th, from 17:30 pm, an online conference with the theme “Gender and Politics”.

The initiative, which takes place on the occasion of Women's Day, will be broadcast through the ZOOM platform and will be moderated by Carla Martins, president of the Parish Council of Santa Luzia, and guest speakers by Joaquina Matos, professor and member of the Assembly of the Republic, Luís Graça, president of the Algarve Federation of the Socialist Party and Member of the Assembly of the Republic, and Ana Espírito Santo, university professor and researcher.

Ana Espírito Santo, guest speaker, holds a Ph.D. in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute (Florence, 2011), and since then has been an assistant professor at ISCTE-IUL and a researcher at CIES-IUL.

Since 2015, she has been director of the degree in Political Science at ISCTE-IUL. Her main areas of research are: gender and politics, comparative politics, political representation (including minority groups) and electoral systems.

The closing will be in charge of Ana Paula Martins, mayor of Tavira, followed by the presentation of a short video in tribute to the women who have held positions in municipal executives and parish councils since the 25th of April 1974.
