Active cases, new infections and hospital admissions in the Algarve decreased in the last week [map]

Algarve exceeded 20 cases since the start of the pandemic

The Algarve has 313 active cases of Covid-19, 114 less than a week ago, according to data that have just been released in the usual weekly bulletin of the District Civil Protection Commission.

By municipalities, Monchique still has no active cases, such as Vila do Bispo. Aljezur, who, for a week, had no active infections, had, in recent days, two new cases of the disease.

In reverse, Faro and Portimão are the municipalities with the most cases of infection still active, with 70 and 68, respectively.

 


Over the last week, in the Algarve, there were 106 new infections with the new coronavirus, 88 fewer than the previous week, which indicates a slowdown in the contagion.

Even so, this Thursday, a milestone was reached: the Algarve surpassed 20 thousand infections with Covid-19. There is this Friday, according to data from the Regional Health Authority, in accumulated numbers since the beginning of the pandemic, 20.027 confirmed cases.

 


With regard to those recovered, in the last 7 days, over 213 people were cured of Covid-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 19.370 people have overcome the disease.

There is also good news in hospitals, as there are currently 19 hospitalized people, 8 fewer than a week ago, 3 patients in intensive care (-4) and 2 ventilated (-2).

With regard to deaths, since last Friday, there have been 3 more in the Algarve and there are now 344 deaths caused by Covid-19 in the region.

The number of contacts under surveillance also decreased, but little, compared to a week ago. On the 12th, there were 590 people and now there are 587.
