Albufeira will have an IEFP training center for the areas of hotels, restaurants and tourism

The two buildings that will be transferred to the IEFP are currently vacant and occupy a total area of ​​2.658 square meters.

Albufeira will have a Professional Training Center in the areas of hotels, restaurants and tourism, within a maximum period of three years. This equipment is the result of a partnership with the Institute of Employment and Professional Training, which was formalized last Thursday, March 18, through the signing of a protocol for the transfer of facilities.

The protocol between the two entities took place at the buildings that will be transferred, at the Tominhal site, in Ferreiras, in a symbolic ceremony, where the document was signed by José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, António Valadas da Silva, chairman of the Council Director of the IEFP and by Madalena Feu, regional delegate of the institute.

The protocol will now be ratified by the Assistant Secretary of State for Labor and Professional Training.

«The beginning of the construction must take place within a maximum period of three years, from the date of the constitution of the surface right in favor of the IEFP», adds the Albufeira Town Council.

According to the municipality, «the Albufeira Training Center of IEFP, IP should privilege training in the areas of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism, despite contemplating the need for adjustments to the evolution and needs of the labor market in other professional areas».

The initial project is organized into four distinct areas. There will be a pedagogical area, with spaces for practical training and theoretical training rooms, a social area, with a trainees' room and a bar, complementary support spaces, which include restrooms, changing rooms, changing rooms, technical spaces, storage and stockroom, and there will also be an administrative area.

 

 

Mayor José Carlos Rolo emphasizes that one of the municipality's attributions is precisely to "contribute to the increase of employment, competitiveness and professional skills of its residents", stating that he is aware that public employment services lack adequate physical facilities, which provide better service conditions for users, namely for the purposes of professional training for unemployed young people and adults.

«The IEFP needs facilities in Albufeira, facilities that the municipality owns and puts at its disposal, namely two vacant urban buildings, which will undergo renovation and expansion works to house the future Professional Training Center in Albufeira, which we believe will contribute to improve the competitiveness of companies and the professional qualification of the council's human resources».

José Carlos Rolo said he is very pleased that the two entities have reached a good understanding regarding the installation of a Training Center in Albufeira.

"Training is fundamental for a society to evolve and develop, as referred to in the Strategic Plan Portugal 2020/2030, which in one of its thematic agendas addresses the importance of the qualification of people and organizations for the development of society", he stressed .

Although the protocol states that the construction should take place within a maximum period of three years, counting from the date of the deed of constitution of the surface right, the mayor of Albufeira City Council emphasizes that «this is the first step towards as soon as possible, we can have decent facilities here, where people can be trained and re-qualified, with the aim of better serving the citizen».

For his part, António Valadas da Silva, president of the IEFP Board of Directors, stressed that Albufeira was the only municipality in the Algarve that did not yet have this equipment, pledging to make every effort to build the Albufeira Vocational Training Center. as fast as possible.

The official underlined that, when it comes into operation, the Albufeira Complex «will contribute to the qualification and re-qualification of young people and adults, employed and unemployed, for the enhancement of the economic and social fabric, as well as for the sustainability of the companies themselves and their settlement. investment by entrepreneurs'.

 

 

This equipment is an “advantage for the municipality, but it is also an asset for any part of the country, because the most important thing is the people and that is why we have to invest in human resources, giving them training”, he said.

António Valadas da Silva was very pleased with the partnership and thanked the Municipality of Albufeira, in the person of its president, for providing the facilities, located in an area with «excellent access to the road network and public transport».

At the end of his intervention, Valadas da Silva stressed that the Albufeira Training Center will be «a modern and future-oriented center», taking into account the county's tourist vocation, so the training will focus on Hotels, Tourism and Restaurants , but also other disciplines, such as new technologies.

«This is an intervention that is intended to be structuring, with a vision of the future and that will benefit multiple people, namely many residents of Albufeira», he concluded.

The transfer of the two urban buildings, in Ferreiras, will be formalized through the constitution of a surface right, for a period of fifty years, in favor of the IEFP.

The institute is responsible for installing the Training Center, ensuring the financial charges for the preparation of the architecture, construction, equipment and operation of the training activities.
