Silves will rehouse 55 people by 2022

The initiative "will allow the municipality, by 2022, to acquire fractions or buildings for the relocation of 15 households"

Until 2022, the Silves City Council will relocate 55 people living in "undignified conditions", following a protocol approved this Friday, February 19, between the municipality and the Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU) , under the support program “1º Direito”.

This agreement, which provides for the provision of a maximum estimated funding of around 2,2 million euros, with a contribution of around half, "aimed at the development of a strategic programming of housing solutions", says the Chamber.

The initiative "will allow the municipality, until 2022, to acquire fractions or buildings for the relocation of 15 households, comprising a total of 55 people, who live in unworthy housing conditions", he adds.

The Municipality of Silves was one of the first four municipalities at national level to present the Local Housing Strategy and submit an application in February 2019.

The idea is to «proceed, in the future, with the implementation of a new Local Housing Strategy, aimed at the construction of dwellings, with the assumption that the Municipality of Silves can access the necessary funding», revealed Rosa Palma, mayor.
