The authors of the petition “Apoiar os Enfermeiros do Algarve” will be heard today, the 24th, at 14 pm, at the Portuguese Parliament.

This petition, "signed by 4715 citizens, demands that the administrations comply with the agreements reached with the Union of Portuguese Nurses, on behalf of nurses", according to the SEP.

"At stake are 500 nurses from the Algarve who are suffering from career development and, consequently, in salary progression, because the former and current administration of the Centro Hospitalar do Algarve and the current Board of Directors of ARS Algarve continue to fail to fulfill the commitments made", framed the union.

The nurses' representatives say that, «in a meeting with the deputies elected by the Algarve, from the various parties, all were unanimous in affirming that if there is a commitment, it must be fulfilled».

Both the BE and the PSD questioned the Government last year “on whether it is aware of the agreements and whether it would give instructions for them to be complied with. So far they have not received any response».

"The nurses' expectation is that, following the hearing, a recommendation will be approved to the Government, in order to enforce the agreements established between the SEP and ARS Algarve and CHUA, in essence, the basis of collective bargaining", concluded the SEP.
