The number of requests soared due to the pandemic and Lagoa accounted, throughout 2020, around 100 euros in support, granted by the Chamber to families through the Social Emergency Fund (FES).
Over the last year, under the FES alone, 6073 hot meals were provided, 580 food baskets and food reinforcement were allocated to 854 children.
According to the autarchy, "221 cases of need for medication, two of specialized medical appointments, four cases of transport to medical appointments, seven of diagnostics and other 41 technical aids related to dental treatments, prostheses, support products were also supported. to daily life resulting from motor, visual, auditory, mental or organic disabilities».
The FES also made it possible to respond to other situations of social vulnerability, such as 188 cases of debts related to electricity, 185 to domestic consumption of gas and two tax foreclosures on water bills.
The FES is a social measure promoted by this Algarve municipality, in close coordination with the Private Institutions of Social Solidarity (IPSS) with social responses in the municipality of Lagoa, aimed at supporting individuals and families who find themselves in situations of emergent and punctual economic need .
People and families residing in the municipality of Lagoa who have proven to be in situations of economic need, under the terms of the regulations that regulate the FES, benefit from this support from the Chamber's social action portfolio.
