The Algfuturo association wants the Algarve to have "priority in vaccination" by the end of May, due to its "strong dependence on tourism".

In a note sent to the newsrooms, this business association considers that the "solution" for the region is "to introduce a criterion of economic and social sustainability, based on the strong dependence on tourism, associated with the priority of vaccination in the Algarve until the end of May".

For Algfuturo, "equal treatment would be given on the Continent to regions and areas where activities dependent on tourism are greater than 60% of wealth".

According to this association, if the vaccination is only completed "at the end of September, it would be hecatomb", with a "2021 worse than 2020".

“We would hit hard, with the need for public support of tens of millions in view of the very strong undercapitalization and, even so, facing lasting shortages”, he says.

For the rest, regarding the crisis facing the Algarve, Algfuturo, which had a meeting with the Algarve deputies of the PS and will have another one today with the parliamentarians of the PSD, demonstrates its willingness to "cooperate with public entities".

“Everything has to be done so that the region does not sink”, he concludes.
