Albufeira already has a Public Health Support Unit

Structure is mounted in the Polyvalent Room of the Albufeira Library

Since the 8th of February, the Municipality of Albufeira has been running a Public Health Support Unit, which has affected workers in the Municipality.

Most of the workers are from the Municipal Civil Protection Service and are now in this Support Unit, set up in the Polyvalent Room of the Albufeira Library.

«The Municipality team, to which training was given for this purpose, works together with technicians from the local Public Health Authority, under the coordination of the Albufeira Health Delegate Joaquim Bodião and has flexible hours.

«The predominant function of this new team is to contact, via telephone, citizens in isolation. This operation is considered essential for the prevention and control of the transmission of Covid-19, reducing the number of positive cases in the municipality and reducing and improving the response time to users», says the City Council of Albufeira.

"On the other hand, it is also up to the new team, to raise awareness of the general duty of collection and the removal of social and psychological needs," he adds.

The mayor congratulates the workers who "have shown themselves available from the outset for these new functions, supporting health authorities in the fight against the pandemic."

José Carlos Rolo also refers that «the Municipality of Albufeira has been exemplary in the fight against Covid-19, in a transversal way, from the executive to the population, passing through the Municipality workers and local agents of the economy, culture and other sectors».
