101 year old user is the first anti-Covid vaccinated in the municipality of Vila do Bispo

Manuel Brabo, 101 years old, user of the Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI) of Sagres at Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Vila do Bispo was this Sunday, January 24th, the first person to be vaccinated against Covid-19, in the county in Vila do Bispo.

The vaccination of 61 users and 46 employees of that nursing home is taking place throughout the day, he told the Sul Informação Armindo Vicente, provider of that Santa Casa da Misericórdia.

On Friday, at the usual press conference to assess the pandemic in the Algarve region, the president of the Regional Health Administration he said that the vaccination against Covid-19 is "running smoothly, effectively and without problems" in the Algarve.

Paulo Morgado added that vaccination in homes that do not have active Covid-19 outbreaks "is finished" in the Eastern Algarve, and is now taking place "in the municipalities of the Central Algarve and Barlavento". This is the case of Vila do Bispo, this Sunday.

According to forecasts by the official, it is expected that the first dose will be given to all users and employees of homes, where there are no cases of infected people, "during the next week", to "complete the [first phase of] vaccination in this priority group'.

Estimates put forward by the president of the Regional Health Administration indicate that about 4 vaccines have already been given throughout the region (2 to health professionals and another 2 in homes).
