The last game was on April 6, 2002 and it didn't go well with the Algarve (defeat by 0-3), but Farense wants to leave that memory behind and "conquer points" at the reception to FC Porto, scheduled for this Monday. Thursday, January 25, from 20 pm, at the Estádio de S. Luís, in Faro.

This will be the return of the Porto team to a stage where they always struggle, especially in the 90's. In total, 26 games have already been played between Farense and FC Porto, in the Algarve, and the numbers show 6 victories for the Porto team. Faro, 6 draws and 14 defeats.

There were even three seasons in a row in which FC Porto failed to win in Faro: 1992/1993 (draw 0-0), 1993/1994 (Win by Farense 1-0) and 1994/1995 (Win by Farense also by 1-0).

Although the last matches have had a clear ascendancy for white and blue (in eight, they won seven), Farense goes to the field with the clear objective of leaving a good image, similarly to what they did with Benfica and Sporting.

«We have to bring competitiveness, organization, put all the motivation on the field to expose the individual quality that we have, in moments with the ball, and be very solidary and compact. I think that's what we have to bring from these games, but with a very big focus on winning points, which is what counts in football», said Sérgio Vieira, in the preview of the match.

FC Porto is coming off a defeat against Sporting, in the semi-final of the Taça da Liga, but the Farense coach considered that they will find a “strong opponent, fighting for the objective of the game”.

“It's a big club, with a structure prepared for that. It is not a factor that deeply disturbs, it can affect one or another option», he added.

At the preview conference, the coach of the Algarve also referred to the fact that the game will be played in Faro. "São Luís is our home: it's the home we're used to, having our fans present, trying to feel them there and feel all the history and mystique that the club has," he concluded.

The game, counting for the 15th round of the I Liga, will start at 20:15, with broadcast on Sporttv and refereeing by Manuel Mota.
