Civil Protection of Faro is already working at the former headquarters of CDOS

The symbolic moment was marked this Friday morning

The Municipal Civil Protection of Faro is already operating at the former headquarters of the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS).

The Municipal Civil Protection Service of Faro (SPCMF) took over this week the new facilities at the former headquarters of the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro, within the scope of the transfer protocol signed, on the Municipality Day, on September 7, between the municipality and the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).

The symbolic moment was marked this Friday morning with the unveiling of a plaque allusive to the SPCMF in the building by Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, and Abel Gomes, District Operational Commander of Faro.

This protocol between the autarchy and ANEPC allows, thus, "to take advantage of part of the facilities of the CDO of Faro, which were empty and available, and provide better conditions for the SPCMF, which has not had its own fixed installations until now”.

This municipal service was even allocated to the premises of the Municipal Library of Faro during the period of general confinement due to the pandemic, when a post of coordination of the Municipal Civil Protection was permanently set up there, having however been temporarily moved to other premises rented by the Municipality.

Rogério Bacalhau thanked, at today's ceremony, ANEPC's availability to provide this space, already adapted to this type of service, which “will allow for good conditions for the Municipal Civil Protection Service, in addition to allowing even more cooperation and synergies. between the municipality and the District Command”.
