Presidential: Marcelo wins in Algarve, Ventura 2nd and Ana Gomes 3rd

In Albufeira, Marcelo got his lowest vote and Ventura the highest

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was the favorite of the Algarve voters in the Presidential Elections that took place this Sunday, having obtained 57,33%. The current President of the Republic obtained his most expressive vote (68,17%) in Monchique, followed by the municipalities of Vila do Bispo (62,73%) and Alcoutim (62,26%).

The lowest vote in Marcelo took place in Albufeira (55,19%), which was, on the other hand, the municipality where André Ventura obtained the highest voter preference, with 20%.

In fact, the second most voted in the Algarve was André Ventura, who got 16,69%. The candidate supported by Chega reached second place in 14 of the Algarve councils, with the exception of Monchique and Aljezur. It was precisely here that Ventura achieved its worst results: 8,33% in Monchique and 11,88% in Aljezur.

As for Ana Gomes, who was ranked 3rd at the regional level (11,74%), managed to supplant Ventura in these same two municipalities, obtaining 13,63% of the votes in Aljezur and 10,88% in Monchique.

In the Algarve, Marisa Matias was in 4th place (4,88%). The candidate supported by the Left Bloc surpassed João Ferreira (the 5th, in the Algarve, with 4,24%) in 10 of the 16 Algarve municipalities (Albufeira, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Monchique, Olhão, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira). The highest percentage of Marisa Matias was obtained in Lagoa (5,86%).

As for João Ferreira, he was the 4th most voted in six municipalities: Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Silves, Vila do Bispo and Vila Real de Santo António. Its highest vote, in terms of percentage, was reached in Vila Real (8,17%), followed by Silves (6,73%).

Tiago Mayan Gonçalves (2,59%) and Vitorino Silva (2,53%), 6th and 7th most voted in the Algarve region, were separated by a few tenths.

In the Algarve, 57,89% of voters did not go to vote. Across the region, the abstention percentage was only below 50% in Monchique, where it was 49,16%, the lowest. On the other hand, the highest abstention rate was registered in Vila Real de Santo António (63,67%).
