A 79-year-old man, who had been in intensive care for a few weeks, is Covid-19's first fatality among residents in the municipality of Monchique.

This death brings to 79 the number of people who have died in the Algarve region due to the pandemic, since March.

The municipality of Monchique, which has not even registered any new cases of SARS-Cov-2 infection in the last 24 hours, now has only 4 active cases of the disease, according to regional data.

Another peripheral municipality, Alcoutim, which for about two weeks did not register any new cases, now has 4 more infections (and as many active cases).

However, as you can see in the our Interactive Map, the regional data released this Monday, and the Sul Informação had access, indicate that the municipalities where the most new cases were registered are Faro (+37) Albufeira and Loulé (both +27) and Lagos (+20). Olhão has another 17 confirmed infections, while Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António have another 14.

From yesterday to today, according to regional data, there are only no new cases in the municipalities of Monchique and Vila do Bispo.
