The legal regime for environmental impact assessment (EIA) is established by Decree-Law No. 151-B/2013, of October 31, amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 152-B/2017, of 11th December and is related to the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment.
This regime provides, in the post-assessment procedure, for audits to be carried out to verify the implementation of the conditions imposed by the environmental impact statement (DIA), or by the decision on the environmental compliance of the execution project (DCAPE), to be carried out by qualified verifiers by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).
Ordinance No. 30/2017, of January 17, establishes the requirements and conditions for the activity of Post-Assessment Verifier, a process that is coordinated by the APA.
