Câmara de Loulé transfers more competences to the Junta de Quarteira

This is a "historic agreement"

The Loulé Council transferred new powers to the Quarteira Parish Council, which will “improve the quality of services provided to the population”.

The agreement between the Loulé Council and the Quarteira Parish Council for the transfer of competences, approved on December 30 at the Municipal and Parish Assembly, «will allow the Council to manage maintenance services even closer to the citizen. green spaces, urban cleaning, occupation of public space and advertising, urban furniture, school buildings and surrounding areas (pre-school and 1st cycle) in addition to fairs and markets».

Telmo Pinto, president of the Parish Council (JF) of Quarteira, classifies the decision as “a historic agreement, only comparable to the local reality of large municipalities”.

The transfer of these skills involves an amount of 2,5 million euros, which will make it possible to reinforce the quality of services provided by JF to the population.

Telmo Pinto emphasizes that this agreement is the result of a “very strong understanding” between the municipality he leads and the Loulé Council, namely through its president Vítor Aleixo.

"It takes political courage to decentralize power in favor of the population and that's what allowed us to reach this historic agreement", emphasizes Telmo Pinto, stressing that this decision "marks an innovative turning point in the way of doing public management in the parish of Quarteira, such as also in our county».

"The next few months will be full of changes and a lot of work, but the most important thing is that in this process we all won", says Telmo Pinto, recognizing that "the Quarteira community becomes a protagonist when deciding", as the 2,5 .XNUMX million euros transferred to JF will substantially improve the quality of proximity services.
