Programming was designed to reach different audiences

A ballet for the youngest, theater for kids and adults, Aldina Duarte's fado, music by Spanish Sílvia Pérez Cruz and poetry will close 2020 at Teatro das Figuras and close the 15th anniversary celebrations of this cultural space in Faro.

In December, a program was set up thinking about different audiences and with proposals in different fields.

In music, and this Thursday, the 3rd, the Teatro das Figuras continues its tribute to Beethoven.

The chamber music concert “Beethoven and his time – Bomtempo” is part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth, “with particular focus on chamber instrumental music and commemorates Beethoven's great birthday from a perspective of contextualization and framing with other famous musicians of his time with whom he showed more affinities», according to Teatro das Figuras.

Aldina Duarte, «one of the great voices of contemporary Fado, recognized for its unmistakable artistic personality and its unique interpretive capacity», will perform on Friday, the 4th, at 19:30 pm.

«The concert is part of the presentation tour of his most recent album, “Roubados”, which he edited in November 2019 and for which he chose a repertoire of fado singers who are a reference in their art (Amália Rodrigues, Beatriz da Conceição, Carlos do Carmo, Carlos Ramos, Celeste Rodrigues, Herminia Silva, João Ferreira Rosa, Lucília do Carmo, Maria da Fé, Maria Teresa de Noronha, Tony de Matos and Tristão da Silva ), creating their own versions of the originals for themselves stolen», he described.

Another concert highlighted by those responsible for the main concert hall in Faro is that of the Spanish Sílvia Pérez Cruz & Farsa Circus Band, who will give a unique show in Faro on 15 day.

The Spanish artist will present “Farsa”, her latest album, “created from dialogues with other artistic disciplines such as theatre, cinema, dance, poetry, painting or animation film”.

«Recorded between 2019 and 2020, “Farsa” (impossible genre) responds to the artist's concern regarding the duality of what is shown and what we really are, how the inner fragility of the intimate survives in these times when the superficial is so devastating that what is seen can become confused with what is heard».

Another of the shows highlighted this month is the ballet A Rainha da Neves that the Companhia de Dança do Algarve will take to the stage on the 19th and 20th of December, at 16 pm.

This is «a show for the whole family that transports the audience to a fantastic world, in which a magic mirror has the particularity of making all the good and beautiful things that are reflected in it disappear and increasing everything that is useless and ugly».

«One day, the magic mirror shatters into millions of small pieces, which fly and spread all over the world, reaching little Kay. He then becomes sensitive to the charms of the icy Snow Queen who takes him to her distant palace», told Teatro das Figuras.

Another art that also takes place in the December programming of this cultural space from Faro is theatre.

On December 10th, the play “Animais Carnívoros”, a co-production of Útero and Teatro das Figuras, will be presented, in another session of the cycle Às Quintas no Teatro.

This is a proposal «that questions the role of the audience in theater and not only, in a “Covid” and “post-Covid” era, which reinforces this thought about the relationship of a work with the public».

Based on the text “The carnivorous animals” from the book “Animal Evocation” by Herberto Hélder, «the words echo, making us think about the way we live now and what paths we will manage to tread».

«Highlight also for “O meu Amigo Robô”, a children's play presented on December 13, which tells the story of the encounter between a girl and a robot. Can a robot be our friend? Do you know how to give hugs? Does he have a heart?”, stressed Teatro das Figuras.

Tomorrow, December 2, at 19:30 pm, writer Luis Ene and musician Todd Sheldrick will present their project “A Língua no Ouvido” in Figuras.

«A writer says some texts of his own authorship. Words bend and unfold in search of meaning. Sounds add to words», describes Teatro das Figuras.

However, the online lectures "Vidas Com Arte" will continue on the Teatro das Figuras Youtube channel, which began in quarantine and aim to make known the artistic and creative paths of artists already with signed credits but also of new emerging artists .

On December 10th, the guest «is the unavoidable director Ricardo Pais».

The complete program for the month of November can be obtained from the Teatro das Figuras website.
