São Brás de Alportel promotes a conference to talk about the challenge of accessibility

The aim is to “reflect on the challenges of accessibility in our homes: where we live, where we work and where we are a community”

The online conference “Acessible São Brás de Alportel: Inclusion, Challenges” takes place this Thursday, December 3rd, from 18:00.

The objective is “to reflect on the challenges of accessibility in our homes: where we live, where we work and where we are a community”, says the City Council of São Brás.

"In everyday reality, the rights of people with disabilities go through facing barriers that often prevent them from actively participating in society, on equal terms with other people," adds the municipality.

How to design, without any barriers, the houses and spaces where we live and work? How to adapt routes, equipment or transport? How to eliminate language and communication barriers?

These are some of the questions that inspired a conversation that the municipality intends to be open and accessible to all, with the participation of Diogo Martins, former president of Associação Centro de Vida Independente and who was part of the Pedestrian Access Plan team in Lisbon, Teresa Bernardino, representative of the Inclusion Desk of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, Marta Santos, of the Municipal Urban Rehabilitation Office and Marlene Guerreiro, vice-president of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
