Rosa Palma and Paulo Sá head the list of Algarvian supporters of João Ferreira for the Presidency of the Republic

Candidacy stresses that João Ferreira has been gathering support from the most varied sectors of the Algarve's society

Rosa Palma, mayor of Silves, Paulo Sá, professor at the University of Algarve and former CDU deputy for the Algarve, Carlos Campaniço, writer, António Goulart, coordinator of the Union of Union of Algarve, Maria Clara Andrade, librarian in Lagoa, and João Carlos Correia, president of the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of São Bartolomeu de Messines, are some of the Algarve supporters of the candidate for President of the Republic João Ferreira.

The candidacy states that, "in recent weeks", João Ferreira "has been adding support with the public demonstration of hundreds of citizens, from the most varied activities, professions and backgrounds".

João Ferreira's candidacy, supported by the PCP, stresses, in a note sent to the newsrooms, that «the elections for President of the Republic of January 24 put the Portuguese people in the choice of who gives them guarantees in the exercise of this important position and are the opportunity of each one, at a difficult moment in national life, to make their voice heard».

The support and vote for João Ferreira's candidacy, «giving expression to the movement that is growing in Portuguese society, is the support and vote for a commitment and values ​​that will always condition the exercise of the functions of the President of the Republic, will give strength to the defeat of reactionary and anti-democratic projects, will contribute to overcoming the path of commitment to right-wing politics and confrontation with the Constitution of the Republic and will influence the course of national life towards development and progress», they add.

Among João Ferreira's supporters, there are «from workers from the most diverse sectors – private and public – including several union leaders, to small and medium businessmen, passing by fishermen, writers, researchers, artists, mayors, firefighters, association leaders» .
