Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, President of the Junta de Andalusia and President pro tempore from the Euroregion Alentejo–Algarve–Andalusia (EuroAAA), took advantage of the Christmas season to send a message of congratulations for the election of José Apolinário to the presidency of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve), reaffirming the "determination" to preserve and to strengthen the “historic ties” with the Algarve region.
Stressing the “extraordinary importance for the Andalusian Council” of the “historical, social and economic ties with the Algarve and Alentejo regions, as well as with Portugal as a whole”, Juan Moreno Bonilla reaffirms his “determination to preserve them and strengthen them».
In the letter, the president of the Junta de Andalusia sends a « cordial greeting from the Andalusian people to the citizens of the sister region of the Algarve » in this difficult moment that we are going through, as a result of Covid-19.
The Junta de Andalusia also recognizes that «cross-border cooperation is a political mission of very extraordinary importance», with the relationship with neighboring regions in Portugal being at the center of its external action, enshrined in the Statute of the Autonomy of Andalusia.
In this context, Juan Moreno Bonilla reiterates his willingness to "work together to overcome the difficulties and challenges that our societies face every day, even the consequences of, for example, the pandemic we are suffering".
President-elect of EuroAAA for the 2020-2022 biennium, this official ends his missive stating that «the prosperity and well-being of the Algarve will also be those of the EuroAAA as a whole», after sharing a «message of confidence that, with the responsibility of our citizens, as they demonstrated throughout the pandemic, we will overcome these moments of adversity and global challenge that we are facing».
