Presidential 2021: João Ferreira dedicates day to the National Health Service in another visit to the Algarve

Candidate for the Presidency of the Republic will be in VRSA and Faro

João Ferreira, candidate for President of the Republic, will be on Friday, December 11, in a new day of contact with the workers and populations of the Algarve, this time to «give centrality to the valorization of the role of the National Health Service and of its professionals, whether in combating the epidemic, or in responding to all types of pathologies that remained untreated, or in ensuring the Algarve population, in the present and for the future, of the right to health».

At 10:30 am, João Ferreira, candidate supported by the PCP, will visit the Baixo Guadiana Health Center, followed by a contact with the population of the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, next to the municipal market, where he will transmit his vision of the main threats to the NHS and the need for its reinforcement.

During the afternoon, João Ferreira will participate in a contact action, from 15 pm, with the users and professionals of the Hospital de Faro (University Hospital Center of the Algarve).

João Ferreira's candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic highlights that «the options that have contributed to the devaluation of the NHS in the Algarve region – with the lack of professionals and the lack of appreciation of their rights, the waiting lists, the thousands of users without family doctor, the absence of public investment including for the construction of a new central hospital, among other problems – are inseparable from the promotion of business around private health and the looting that these economic groups are making of public resources, particularly in the Algarve».

Therefore, for João Ferreira, "only with the enhancement of the NHS will the right of all Portuguese to health care be ensured, as expressed in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic."
