Armed Forces Hospital has admitted 419 Covid-19 patients

In addition to transport missions and the production of disinfectant gel for the NHS, the Armed Forces also contributed with facilities, beds in hospitals for infected people and helped in the disinfection of homes and schools

The Armed Forces Hospital has treated 419 Covid-19 patients transferred from the National Health Service since the beginning of the pandemic crisis in March.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces (EMGFA) adds, in a statement sent to the newsrooms, that 66 patients are currently being treated, 44 in the Porto hub and 22 in Lisbon.

Since March, the Porto branch of the Hospital das Forças Armadas (HFAR) has received 249 patients from the North Regional Health Administration hospitals, while the Lisbon Hub, in support of the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo Health Administration, has welcomed 170 people.

The Armed Forces "provided the SNS with 50 inpatient beds at the HFAR-Polo do Porto and 20 inpatient beds and two intensive care beds at the Lisbon hub", adds the note from the EMGFA.

In addition to transport missions and the production of disinfectant gel for the NHS, the Armed Forces also contributed with facilities, beds in hospitals for infected people, helped in the disinfection of homes and schools, as well as contacts for tracking cases.
