The GNR Coastal Control Subdetachment of Vila Real de Santo António participated, this Tuesday night, December 22, in an operation with the Guardia Civil that culminated in the arrest of 10 people and the seizure of 800 kilos of drugs.
"As part of the operation in support of the Spanish authorities, the Guard military carried out a surveillance action aimed at controlling the maritime border, namely the monitoring of suspicious vessels approaching southern Spain," says the GNR.
In addition to the Surveillance Teams, the Integrated Surveillance, Command and Control System (SIVICC) and a GNR Maritime Interception and Patrol Team were also activated, to «assist the interception of suspicious vessels, which were carrying bales of hashish in their interior».
Following police investigations, the Guardia Civil arrested ten people, seized three boats and three vehicles and more than 800 kilos of drugs.
